Modelling BLUE Active Queue Management using Discrete-time Queue

چکیده
This paper proposes a new discrete-time queue analytical model based on BLUE algorithm in order to determine the network congestion in preliminary stages. We compare the original BLUE, which has been implemented in Java, with our proposed analytical model with regards to different performance measures (average queue length, throughput, average queueing delay and packet loss probability). The comparison results show that the proposed discrete-time queue analytical model outperforms BLUE algorithm in terms of throughput and packet loss probability. Moreover, the proposed model maintains the throughput performance regardless whether the amount of the traffic load is light or heavy. Furthermore, we calculate the packet dropping probability function for our analytical model and the BLUE algorithm in order to decide which algorithm drops fewer packets.

This paper presents a discrete-time single-server finite buffer N threshold policy queue with renewal input and discreteMarkovian service process. The server terminates service whenever the system becomes empty, and recommencesservice as soon as the number of waiting customers in the queue is N. We obtain the system-length distributionsat pre-arrival and arbitrary epochs using the supplementary...

This paper investigates a discrete-time impatient customer queue with Bernoulli-schedule vacation interruption. The vacation times and the service times during regular busy period and during working vacation period are assumed to follow geometric distribution. We obtain the steady-state probabilities at arbitrary and outside observer's observation epochs using recursive technique. Cost analysi...
متن کاملBLUE: A New Class of Active Queue Management Algorithms
In order to stem the increasing packet loss rates caused by an exponential increase in network traffic, the IETF is considering the deployment of active queue management techniques such as RED [13]. While active queue management can potentially reduce packet loss rates in the Internet, this paper shows that current techniques are ineffective in preventing high loss rates. The inherent problem w...
